WOTC Questions: Can you tell the amount of tax credit an employer gets for hiring a documented person with a disability and does the employee have to work full-time?

At CMS, as Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) experts and service providers since 1997, we receive a lot of questions via our website’s chat box that we try to answer:

Can you tell the amount of tax credit an employer gets for hiring a documented person with a disability and does the employee have to work full-time?

CMS Says: If the disabled individual is qualified as a Vocational Rehabilitation Referral, you can be eligible for up to $2,400 (40% of the first $6,000 in wages) if the employee works 400 hours. They do not have to work full-time, they can be part-time.

If the individual hired is a disabled veteran, you can be eligible for up to $9,600 (40% of the first $24,000 in wages) with the WOTC Tax Credit.
