WOTC Questions: Are there requirements on how long the employee has to be employed with the business in order for the employer to receive the credit?

At CMS, as Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) experts and service providers since 1997, we receive a lot of questions via our website’s chat box that we try to answer:

Are there requirements on how long the employee has to be employed with the business in order for the employer to receive the credit?

CMS Says: Hi, yes your new employee must work a minimum of 120 hours in order for you to receive a partial credit of 25% of their first $6,000 in wages or $1,500. And work up to 400 hours for a full credit which is 40% of their first $6,000 in wages or $2,400.
