WOTC Questions: If I have a “valid for work only with DHS authorization” does that mean I do have a conditional certification from the state workforce agency?

At CMS, as Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) experts and service providers since 1997, we receive a lot of questions via our website’s chat box that we try to answer:

If I have a “valid for work only with DHS authorization” does that mean I do have a conditional certification from the state workforce agency?

CMS Says: No, the Valid for Work with DHS Authorization refers to the status of your work visa or greencard. It does not relate to your employer being eligible for tax credits, and has no relation to the Conditional Certification from a State Workforce Agency.
